Previously, he had a long, meaningful association with Emmanuel Church, Boston, where he was Organist and Chapel Choir Director from 2016-2021, Parish Operations Manager from 2019-2021, and the Executive Director for Coro Allegro from 2016-2019.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Kevin has been heard at the organ in numerous venues including Symphony Hall (Boston), Old South Church, Emmanuel Church, Old West Church, and Methuen Memorial Music Hall, and as a singer with the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/chapel\/music\/chapelchoir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener undefined\" data-content=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/chapel\/music\/chapelchoir\/\" data-type=\"external\">Marsh Chapel Choir<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/emmanuelmusic.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-content=\"http:\/\/emmanuelmusic.org\/index.htm\" data-type=\"external\">Emmanuel Music<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/cantatasingers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener undefined\" data-content=\"http:\/\/cantatasingers.org\" data-type=\"external\">Cantata Singers<\/a><\/span>, and\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.voices21c.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener undefined\" data-content=\"http:\/\/www.voices21c.org\" data-type=\"external\">VOICES 21C<\/a><\/span>. <span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">In December 2016, he \u00a0co-founded with soprano <a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/handelandhaydn.org\/about\/period-instrument-orchestra-and-chorus\/carey-shunskis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener undefined\" data-content=\"https:\/\/handelandhaydn.org\/about\/period-instrument-orchestra-and-chorus\/carey-shunskis\/\" data-type=\"external\">Carey Shunskis<\/a>in \u201cet al.,\u201d (formerly \"The Brookline Consort\") where he continues to serve as co-artistic director, baritone, and primary accompanist for this project-based professional choral ensemble. There he\u00a0 had received his B.Mus. from Michigan State University, studying with Ralph Votapek and Deborah Moriarty. In Boston, he earned his M.Mus. from New England Conservatory of Music where he studied with Patricia Zander. <\/span>\n\nCORO ALLEGRO\nDEDHAM CHORAL SOCIETY\nCOMMONWEALTH SCHOOL CHORUS AND CHORALE\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">A<\/span><\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">ssistant Conductor and Accompanist<\/span><\/em>\n\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">At present, in addition to being a valued member of the Heritage Chorale family, he also serves as assistant conductor and accompanist for Coro Allegro, the Dedham Choral Society, and the Commonwealth School Chorus and Chorale.\n<\/span>\n\n\n<h5><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Concert Pianist<\/span> <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">Darryl's performing career often features him as a champion of leading African and African-American composers. At the Festival of African and African-American Music in St. Louis in 2000 he premiered <em>The Spring of Esentre<\/em> by Gyimah Labi, <em>Concertino Africana for Piano and Orchestra<\/em> by Paul Konye, and participated in the North American premiere of <em>Baptism of Fire \u2013 Symphony Concertante for <\/em><em>Three Pianos and Orchestra<\/em> by Gyimah Labi. In December 2002 he performed a recital of African Piano Music at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Then in April 2003, he gave the world premiere of <em>Three Ivory Magnolia Fantasies<\/em> by Gary Nash in a recital at Mississippi Valley State University. <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">Internationally, Darryl performed premieres of works by Paul Konye, Wallace Cheatham, Akin Euba, Gary Nash, Robert Kwami and Joshua Uziogwe in August 2003 at The International Symposium and Festival on Composition in Africa and the Diaspora at Churchill College, Cambridge, England, and in July 2005 at the New Music Indaba Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa, with soprano Dawn Padmore.
