HERITAGE CHORALE TO SING IN EUROPE

The Heritage Chorale will visit Prague and Vienna in the summer of 2010 to perform in some of Europe's great classical venues, and to enjoy these historical cities and cultural centers.

Prague
For centuries Prague has been a glittering jewel of art and architecture nestled in the heart of Europe. This beautiful city has been home to emperors, kings, artists and astronomers, and has lent inspiration to musicians and writers from Mozart to Dvořák. Though under the influence of communism for 40 years, Prague has returned to a capitalist economy and welcomes visitors from around the world. Situated on the Vltava River, Prague is the economic, political and cultural center of the Czech Republic.

Vienna
It is hard to imagine a more livable city than Vienna. About half of the municipal area is devoted to parks and gardens such as the Vienna Woods and Danube Island. Vienna is one of the oldest European university cities with its nine universities and five technical colleges. The city offers 70 theatres, four opera houses and 100 museums. The Vienna Philharmonic, the City of Vienna Concert Orchestra, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra are just three of the world-class organizations providing the public with classical and modern orchestral musical offerings. How fortunate that the Heritage Chorale will add its own musical offering to the cultural life of the city in the summer of 2010.

Concert Tour
Concerts will be performed in one of Prague’s beautiful concert sites; in Melk Abbey, an Austrian Benedictine abbey along the Danube River; and twice in Vienna including a Mass at St. Stephan's Cathedral. The concert repertoire will celebrate the musical traditions of the Czech Republic, Austria, and the United States including short works of Dvořák and Mozart, Lux Aeterna by America’s Morten Lauridsen, and a selection of American folk hymns and spirituals.
